Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Negotiations have reached their final stage after Gyokeres refused to attend Sporting’s pre-season training, prompting a public criticism from club president Frederico Varandas.
While the final fee is yet to be officially confirmed, Sporting had been demanding €70 million plus €10 million in add-ons. Gyokeres already has a five-year contract in place with Arsenal, who have made him their priority No.9 signing for this summer window.
