Chelsea may take legal action against Mykhailo Mudryk if the Ukrainian winger is confirmed guilty of doping, which could lead to severe financial consequences for the player.
Sports lawyer Simon Leaf told The i Paper that if Mudryk is found guilty, Chelsea would likely have grounds to terminate his contract for gross misconduct. Additionally, the club could sue Mudryk for millions in damages, similar to the legal action they once pursued against Adrian Mutu.
“While suing players isn’t a preferred route for any club — especially considering how it might deter future signings — Chelsea might still consider it if the circumstances warrant,” Leaf explained. “I expect the club to proceed very carefully with Mudryk’s situation.”
Mudryk currently faces a potential suspension of up to four years after banned substances were reportedly detected in his blood.
