With the transfer window progressing and no confirmed arrival of a new out-and-out striker, I’ve been thinking seriously about how Liverpool should line up if we go into the new season without signing a proper No. 9.
Given the current squad depth and the players Arne Slot has at his disposal, this is the formation I’d go with. It’s based on maximizing the strengths of our current forwards — like Gakpo, Jota, Salah, and Nunez (if he stays) — while ensuring balance in midfield and solidity at the back. I’ve tried to set it up in a way that allows fluid attacking movement, pressing from the front, and enough control in the middle of the park.
Of course, this isn’t perfect. It depends on player form, tactical tweaks, and how well they adapt to Slot’s system. But until we bring in a true centre-forward — if that even happens — I believe this approach gives us the best shot at hitting the ground running.
