Real Madrid have temporarily halted contract renewal discussions with Vinicius Jr., despite a prior verbal agreement that would have extended his deal to 2030 with a €20 million net salary. According to journalist Jorge Picon, the talks are delayed because Vinicius is now asking for €30 million per year, but Madrid’s salary cap policy prevents any player from earning more than Kylian Mbappe’s €15 million net.
Vinicius’ disappointing 2024/25 campaign, where he was overshadowed by Mbappe and managed just one goal and one assist in six Club World Cup matches, has further complicated matters. The Brazilian is also attracting significant interest from Saudi Arabia, with a reported €1 billion offer over five years, as well as from several European clubs. Negotiations could resume next season.
