Colombian football icon Faustino Asprilla has publicly advised Luis Díaz to seek a move away from Liverpool this summer, suggesting the winger should prioritize a more lucrative contract at this point in his career.
Díaz, who still has two years remaining on his deal at Anfield, has attracted heavy transfer interest. Despite Liverpool rejecting a £58.6 million bid from Bayern Munich, speculation surrounding the 28-year-old’s future continues to grow.
Sources close to the player suggest Díaz has already indicated his willingness to leave, even though he’s publicly stated he’s “happy” at Liverpool.
During international duty last month, Díaz admitted that discussions with other clubs were underway. While he expressed appreciation for Liverpool, he acknowledged that his future depends on the club’s decisions.
> “We’re talking with different clubs — that’s part of how the transfer window works,” Díaz said. “I love Liverpool, they’ve always treated me well, but we’re evaluating what’s best for us moving forward. If I stay and finish my contract, great. If there’s a new deal, even better.”
Despite his outward loyalty, those close to the situation believe Díaz could depart if a suitable offer comes in — particularly as Liverpool have yet to propose an improved contract. He’s currently earning around £140,000 a week, with no sign of a pay rise on the horizon.
Asprilla believes Díaz should seize the opportunity to maximize his earnings.

Bayern Munich remain keen, despite having two previous bids rejected, and are expected to return with a stronger offer. Barcelona have also shown interest earlier this summer, but Liverpool’s position remains unchanged — Díaz is still considered an important part of new manager Arne Slot’s plans.
Interestingly, Díaz was not included in Liverpool’s squad for their first pre-season game against Preston North End. Though he traveled with the team, his absence from the matchday lineup has only intensified the transfer speculation.
With the summer market heating up, the big question now is whether Liverpool will hold on to one of their brightest stars — or if the pull of a big-money deal will lead Díaz to a new chapter elsewhere.
