“It’s Real” – Liverpool Reportedly Leading Race to Sign Real Madrid’s Rodrygo with 70% Chance of Transfer
Liverpool’s pursuit of Real Madrid star Rodrygo is genuine and gathering momentum, with reports suggesting the Reds now have a 70% chance of securing the Brazilian forward in the summer window.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri recently confirmed that Liverpool have expressed formal interest in the 24-year-old, although an official bid has not yet been tabled. This potential move gains further relevance as uncertainty continues to surround Luis Díaz’s future, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that both Barcelona and Bayern Munich have held direct discussions with the Colombian winger’s camp.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Spanish journalist Eduardo Burgos, speaking to The Redmen TV, affirmed that Liverpool’s interest in Rodrygo is serious and active. According to him, discussions have already taken place between the club and Rodrygo’s representatives. A Liverpool envoy has reportedly even travelled to Madrid to meet with the player’s family—an approach that Rodrygo is said to have welcomed.
“He’s open to joining. He’s long admired the Premier League,” Burgos said. “Manchester City were close two years ago—Pep Guardiola personally reached out several times. But now, Rodrygo’s outlook has changed. He wants to move on and become a pivotal figure at a new club, something that feels increasingly unlikely at Madrid.”
Burgos estimates the chances of a transfer to be 70-30 in Liverpool’s favour, with the Merseyside club eyeing him as a potential reinforcement—especially if Díaz departs. Without Díaz, new manager Arne Slot would be left with just four established forwards, making Rodrygo an appealing and versatile option. The Brazilian is primarily a right-winger but has the flexibility to play across the frontline.
Despite being only 24, Rodrygo brings top-level pedigree, having already won two Champions League titles and three La Liga trophies. He remains under contract with Real Madrid until 2028, and the Spanish club is under no pressure to sell, meaning any potential deal will likely require a significant transfer fee.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti previously described Rodrygo as a “special striker,” underscoring the talent Liverpool would be acquiring.
Although the Reds’ top targets appear to be more traditional number nines—such as Alexander Isak or Hugo Ekitike—Rodrygo is viewed as a high-quality alternative should those pursuits fall through.
