Manchester United’s Striker Plans Revealed – Choupo-Moting on the Radar
Manchester United may finish the January transfer window without signing a new striker, though they are closely monitoring Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting of Bayern Munich as one of several possible attacking reinforcements, according to 90min.
While manager Erik ten Hag is keen to boost the team’s goal-scoring capabilities, the club’s main focus for the winter window remains on facilitating player departures. That, combined with Anthony Martial still being at the club, could limit their ability to make major signings.
Back in November, United considered a move for Timo Werner, but ultimately decided against pursuing the deal. Werner has since completed a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur from RB Leipzig, effectively ending United’s interest for now.
Sources say that Choupo-Moting, whose contract with Bayern expires this summer, is being considered due to his affordability. However, United have yet to make any concrete moves toward a deal.
Another player under observation is Serhou Guirassy, currently playing for Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations. Despite interest, Guirassy is expected to remain at Stuttgart for the remainder of the season, even though his contract contains a release clause.
Looking further ahead, United are also internally discussing Jonathan David as a long-term solution. The Lille striker’s contract runs until 2025, and the French club may consider a summer sale.
