Luis Díaz Transfer Update: Bayern Pushing, Barcelona Stalled
Florian Plettenberg has clarified the current state of play between Bayern Munich and Liverpool over Luis Díaz, stating there has not yet been a breakthrough in negotiations. Despite circulating reports, there is no final agreement between the clubs.
However, according to Plettenberg, Liverpool are open to selling Díaz, provided their valuation is met. Bayern are fully aware of the financial requirements and have maintained ongoing dialogue with Liverpool over a potential deal.
Importantly, Díaz himself has held positive talks with Bayern, and the German giants have already outlined a long-term contract—reportedly running until at least 2029. This level of commitment signals how seriously Bayern are pursuing him.
An initial offer of around €67 million has already been tabled, though it was deemed insufficient by Liverpool. Still, Plettenberg is confident that Bayern will soon return with an improved bid to try and close the deal.
While Barcelona also remain interested, their financial constraints are a major obstacle. Though they may afford the transfer fee, they are currently unable to register Díaz, making the move unattractive from the player’s perspective.
For Bayern, Díaz has now become their top transfer priority for the left wing. If discussions with Liverpool continue to progress smoothly, a deal is considered highly realistic in the coming weeks.
Hugo Ekitike: Liverpool Move Edging Closer
Turning to Hugo Ekitike, Plettenberg reveals that both Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt are in active and constructive contact. While a final agreement hasn’t been reached, discussions are moving in a positive direction.
A first formal offer from Liverpool, sent on Thursday evening, was rejected by Frankfurt. But with the Bundesliga club keen on a quick resolution, Plettenberg believes a deal worth between €90–100 million is expected very soon.
Crucially, Ekitike has made his preference clear: he wants to join Liverpool over Newcastle, seeing Anfield as the ideal next step in his career.
Tactically, Ekitike is described as a true No. 9, but with the flexibility to operate on the flanks—a profile that fits Arne Slot’s versatile attacking system and addresses Liverpool’s current striker needs.
