“Door Still Ajar” – Romano Hints at Isak’s Openness to Liverpool Switch
Fabrizio Romano has shared an intriguing update regarding Alexander Isak amid growing speculation of a Liverpool move this summer.
In a recent YouTube video, Romano confirmed that Liverpool are progressing in talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. However, Alexander Isak of Newcastle United remains on their shortlist. Although Newcastle are reportedly unwilling to sell to a domestic rival, Isak hasn’t dismissed the possibility of joining the Reds.
Romano explained: “From what I’ve gathered, Isak is staying calm. He knows Newcastle want to hold on to him and are working on a lucrative new contract. But he’s also aware of Liverpool’s strong financial backing and the exciting project they’re building.”
Romano suggested that Liverpool’s pursuit wouldn’t have advanced if they hadn’t received some positive indication from the player’s camp.

Many supporters lean toward Isak, given his proven Premier League quality. Ekitike, while talented and flexible in attack, remains an unknown quantity in English football.

The concern lies in whether he can adapt to the Premier League—an issue Liverpool encountered with Darwin Núñez. Despite thriving in Portugal, Núñez has struggled to meet expectations at Anfield, and his future may now be in doubt.
