Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reaffirmed the club’s transfer ambitions during their pre-season tour of Asia, offering optimism to fans still hoping for more summer signings — including Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
Speaking in his first press conference of the tour, Arteta admitted the squad remains “short” in both depth and quality, despite the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Christian Norgaard. Talks for Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres are also advancing.
“There’s still a long time in the window and we are seeking still, in terms of numbers, we are short, and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad,” Arteta said. “We are constantly looking in the market.”
Arteta acknowledged that the club had hoped to complete more signings earlier but praised the efforts of new sporting director Andrea Berta and his recruitment team. “There’s a long time to go in the window but we have still our hopes we can improve the team and we will continue to try and do that.”
With multiple departures, including Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Kieran Tierney, and Takehiro Tomiyasu, Arsenal remain determined to reinforce their attack. football.london reports that Eze is their priority target, with Xavi Simons and Rodrygo also under consideration.
Arteta’s assurance that Arsenal are still active in the market keeps alive the prospect of Eze arriving before the window closes.
