Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhães has commented on the expected arrival of Viktor Gyokeres, as the Gunners close in on a £63.7m deal plus £8.4m in add-ons with Sporting CP. Gabriel acknowledged Gyokeres’ quality, describing him as a difficult opponent when they faced each other in the Champions League.
“We all know how talented he is. I’ve played against him before — he’s a tough striker. If he joins us, he’ll definitely strengthen the squad, but we’re still waiting for everything to be confirmed,” Gabriel remarked.
The final stage of talks between Arsenal and Sporting revolves around the conditions attached to the add-ons, with the Portuguese side seeking easily achievable targets, while Arsenal want them to be more performance-based. Despite the remaining details, Gyokeres is still expected to complete his move in time to link up with Arsenal’s pre-season tour in Asia.
