Arsenal appear to have made significant progress in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres, with the striker looking set to join Mikel Arteta’s side after a major breakthrough in negotiations with Sporting CP. While the Swedish forward remains a Sporting player for now, talks are said to be at an advanced stage and Arsenal are optimistic that a deal will soon be finalized.
The Gunners had initially hoped to conclude the transfer before departing for their pre-season tour of Asia, but there is still a chance that Gyokeres could link up with the squad midway through the tour once his move is sealed.
Arsenal have been busy in the transfer market, already securing the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Noni Madueke. Arteta’s side is keen to add further quality to their ranks with Gyokeres and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera also on the radar.
Fans can expect an official announcement soon, with the possibility that Gyokeres could feature in Arsenal’s remaining pre-season fixtures against Newcastle United and Tottenham.
