Arteta Dismisses Youth Criticism with Arsenal’s Asia Tour Squad Selection

Mikel Arteta has silenced claims that he neglects youth development by naming eight academy players in Arsenal’s 30-man squad for their pre-season tour of South East Asia.

Following a 2-0 friendly win over Watford, the Gunners flew to Singapore where they’ll face AC Milan, Newcastle, and Tottenham. Alongside new signings like Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi, Arteta included Hale End talents such as Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and six others hoping to impress.

This selection further dispels the myth that Arteta overlooks youth, with previous examples like Saka, Smith Rowe, and Nwaneri proving his willingness to promote from within. Whether these youngsters feature heavily remains to be seen, but their inclusion signals clear intent to integrate academy prospects into the senior setup.
