Arsenal have secured a verbal agreement with Sporting CP to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres, per reports from football.london and David Ornstein. The deal is structured at €63.5m (£55m) plus €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons, with final terms on payment structure and conditions close to completion.
Gyokeres is expected to undergo a medical shortly before joining Arsenal’s pre-season tour in Singapore. The Swedish forward, who scored 97 goals in two seasons for Sporting, had made it clear he only wanted Arsenal, despite Sporting’s hope for competing bids.
The move aims to resolve Arsenal’s long-standing need for a prolific centre-forward. Cristhian Mosquera is also joining the squad, with further reinforcements like Eberechi Eze, Xavi Simons, and Anthony Gordon still being pursued.
