Urgent Reinforcement Needed Flick Demands Immediate Winger Signing

After securing Marcus Rashford’s blockbuster move to Barcelona, head coach Hansi Flick is pushing hard for the club to urgently reinforce the flanks. According to sources close to the technical team, bringing in a dynamic winger is now the top priority for the German manager, who views this as critical to implementing his tactical vision.

Options Under Consideration: Cancelo, Dumfries, and Grimaldo

Currently, three key names are on the table:

João Cancelo – The Portuguese full-back, who can also be deployed as a winger due to his attacking prowess, is valued at €15 million in a straightforward deal. However, a variable-based offer of €25 million is also being considered.

Denzel Dumfries The powerful Dutch wing-back remains a serious option. He has a €25 million release clause valid until July 31, giving Barcelona a tight deadline to act.

Álex Grimaldo Known for his technical ability and experience in La Liga, the Spanish international is available for €18 million, but only until August 31, making him the fallback option if the others fall through.

Financial Roadblock: FFP Constraints

However, before Barcelona can complete any of these deals, there is a significant obstacle to overcome — La Liga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. The club must first free up around €30 million in salary cap space in order to officially register new arrivals: Joan, Wayne Rooney (as technical staff), and Rashford.

Decisive Week Ahead

Time is of the essence. Barça’s sporting leadership is working around the clock this week to finalize the necessary financial movements likely involving player exits or wage reductions to unlock space for the planned signings. The winger deal, Flick’s top demand, hinges entirely on resolving this.
