Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has shared his thoughts on Bryan Mbeumo’s potential move to Old Trafford, describing it as a “fantastic signing” for the club.
Speaking on his podcast, Ferdinand praised the Brentford star for his pace, aggression, and consistent end product, saying Mbeumo brings the kind of energy and directness United’s attack has been missing. He highlighted the fact that the winger is already proven in the Premier League, which means he’ll need little time to adapt.
However, Rio also issued a warning: while Mbeumo has thrived at Brentford, playing for Manchester United comes with much greater pressure. “The badge is heavier,” he said, noting that the expectations at Old Trafford are on a different level.
Still, the former defender believes Mbeumo has the mentality and talent to succeed, and added that his arrival could form a deadly attacking duo alongside Matheus Cunha under Erik ten Hag’s evolving system.
