Strengthening the defense should become the top priority.
While improving the attack is exciting, the real backbone of any title-challenging team lies in a solid and consistent backline. With Virgil van Dijk entering the twilight of his prime, and question marks surrounding the depth and fitness of other defenders, Liverpool cannot afford to overlook this area.
A new, elite centre-back should be next on the agenda someone who can grow into a leadership role and provide stability for years to come.
Attack wins games, but defense wins titles and if the Isak deal goes through, it’s time to build from the back.
