If Liverpool Sign Alexander Isak, What’s Next?

If Liverpool succeed in signing Alexander Isak, the club reportedly feels confident that the left side of the attack is already well covered.

With Cody Gakpo capable of drifting in from the left with quality, and new arrival Hugo Ekitike also having the versatility to operate in wide areas, there’s no immediate need to reinforce that flank. Add the exciting rise of Rio Ngumoha a young prospect already impressing in training and there’s clear internal belief that Liverpool has enough firepower in those positions.

However, once the Isak deal is done, I firmly believe the next priority must shift to the defense.

We still lack true depth at centre-back. While Van Dijk remains a leader, he’s approaching the latter stages of his career. Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konaté, though talented, have had their share of inconsistency and fitness concerns. That leaves us vulnerable one injury could disrupt the entire backline.

It’s time to bring in a reliable, modern defender someone who not only adds depth, but has the potential to become a long-term pillar of the team.

Let’s get Isak through the door, then turn full attention to shoring up the defense before the season kicks off. Goals win games, but a solid backline wins titles.
