Chelsea Open Talks to Sign Alejandro Garnacho as Manchester United Set £50m Price Tag
Chelsea have formally expressed interest in signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, requesting the club’s official valuation of the 21-year-old Argentine winger. According to reports, United have quoted a fee of £50 million, notably lower than the initial £70 million valuation earlier this year.
The reduced asking price reflects Garnacho’s increasingly uncertain position at Old Trafford under manager Ruben Amorim, who has sidelined the youngster since his arrival. With Garnacho now reportedly informed that he is not part of Amorim’s long-term plans, the player is said to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, viewing Chelsea as the ideal place to reignite his career.
Chelsea’s board is understood to have no reservations about Garnacho’s attitude or professionalism, having conducted thorough background checks on the player. Despite being out of favour at United, Garnacho boasts solid experience for someone his age—having made 144 appearances for the Red Devils, contributing 26 goals and 22 assists.
He was also part of United’s silverware success in recent seasons, winning the FA Cup in 2023–24 and the EFL Cup in 2022–23.
The Blues, under new boss Enzo Maresca, are undergoing a major attacking reshuffle ahead of their Champions League return. They’ve already splashed £48.5 million on left winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, and sealed a deal for Brazilian prodigy Estevão Willian. Chelsea also remain in pursuit of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, showcasing their intent to build a dynamic and youthful attacking unit.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are on the verge of signing Benjamin Šeško from Leipzig in a deal worth £74.1 million, indicating a significant rebuild is also underway at Old Trafford.
