Liverpool’s transfer business is not finished yet, with just under two weeks remaining before the summer window closes.
The Reds have already strengthened in key areas of the squad, bringing in reinforcements in attack, midfield, and defence. However, manager Arne Slot is still considering further changes as opportunities continue to present themselves in the market.
High on Liverpool’s shortlist are Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. Both deals remain difficult, with their clubs reluctant to sell, but there is still optimism at Anfield that a breakthrough could happen before the deadline, potentially leading to a major double swoop.
Departures are also expected. Some players are not part of Slot’s long-term vision, while others are hesitant to commit to new contracts. Left-back Kostas Tsimikas is likely to move on in search of regular game time, while Ibrahima Konaté’s future is increasingly uncertain.
The French defender has entered the final year of his contract and has already rejected Liverpool’s renewal offer. Following a difficult performance in the season opener against Bournemouth—where he was outmuscled by Antoine Semenyo for the equaliser—Liverpool are now prepared to let him go if a £35 million bid arrives, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Several European giants are monitoring the situation. Real Madrid are interested but only plan to move for Konaté on a free transfer next summer, in a deal similar to their capture of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Barcelona have also been linked, though no concrete approach has yet materialised.
With negotiations at a standstill, Liverpool are becoming more open to cashing in, which in turn makes the pursuit of Guehi as a defensive replacement even more pressing.
