Liverpool could soon welcome another star addition to their squad, with reports suggesting that a high-profile player might join next week. The news comes directly from the current manager of the player, fueling speculation as the transfer window nears its conclusion.
The Reds have already been busy in the market, completing several significant deals. Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Hugo Ekitiké have all arrived at Anfield, with Wirtz’s transfer even setting a new club record. Despite these big-money moves, Liverpool’s recruitment drive is far from over.
One key area still requiring reinforcement is the attack. At present, Ekitiké is the only natural striker available, leaving the club eager to secure another forward. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak remains their top target, although Liverpool are also keeping alternative options in mind.
Another name strongly linked with the Reds is Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. With only one year left on his contract, Liverpool see an opportunity to strike a deal at a reduced fee, provided the negotiations fall in their favor.
Oliver Glasner Speaks on Guehi’s Future
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner addressed Guehi’s situation on Thursday when asked about the defender’s future. Speaking to the Guardian, he admitted that the final decision rests on whether the player commits to a new contract.
“If Marc wishes to sign a new contract, he can remain with us,” Glasner explained. “If he opts not to sign, then we will have to reassess our options. Every club competing in Europe is facing stricter financial regulations than the Premier League, which makes situations like this more complicated.”
Glasner added that with just 11 days left in the transfer window, Palace must carefully evaluate their options. His comments follow earlier remarks by chairman Steve Parish, who also hinted at the likelihood of selling Guehi while they can still command a transfer fee.
According to widespread reports, Liverpool are leading the race for his signature. The BBC has even gone as far as stating that Guehi is “likely to join Liverpool,” suggesting that the move could be finalized very soon.
