Liverpool Plotting Swap Deal with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi

Liverpool may have started the Premier League season with two straight wins, but their defence still looks shaky.

The Reds opened with a victory over Bournemouth, though they conceded twice to Antoine Semenyo, and against ten-man Newcastle they nearly threw away a two-goal lead before 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha rescued them with a dramatic late winner.

Despite having a backline that features Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, concerns remain. Van Dijk is now 34 and nearing the end of his career, while Konaté has been linked with a possible switch to Real Madrid.

Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi is seen as a possible solution. Since joining from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has been one of the most reliable defenders in the league, even guiding Palace to FA Cup glory last season.

Liverpool have long been linked with the England international, but Palace—who recently lost Eberechi Eze to Arsenal—are reluctant to part with another star.

Journalist Sami Mokbel, speaking on 5 Live, suggested that Palace might be open to a £30m deal if Liverpool include Joe Gomez on loan. However, Liverpool reportedly have no interest in loaning Gomez, though they could consider a permanent sale.

Gomez, who has 15 England caps, made just 17 appearances last season due to injury setbacks. He has been at Anfield since 2015, but his future is now uncertain with Palace showing strong interest.

Meanwhile, Palace are still searching for their first win of the campaign, having drawn with Chelsea and Nottingham Forest in their opening fixtures
