Liverpool Player Set to Leave Following Alexander Isak Arrival

A Liverpool player is expected to depart the club as the imminent arrival of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United nears completion.

The Reds have been highly active in the transfer market this summer, spending heavily to bring in talents such as Florian Wirtz for £116 million and Hugo Ekitike. At the same time, they have overseen the exits of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez, as well as the departure of Diogo Jota.

Manager Arne Slot has been determined to strengthen his attacking options, with Isak long identified as a key target. After weeks of speculation, Liverpool have finally agreed a British-record fee with Newcastle to secure the Swedish striker.

In addition to Isak, Liverpool are working on finalising a move for Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace before the 7pm (UK time) transfer deadline. Guehi, who featured in Palace’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, has been strongly linked with a switch to Anfield.

If the Guehi transfer is completed, Joe Gomez is expected to leave Liverpool. According to Fabrizio Romano, the defender is in line to join AC Milan, provided he approves the move. Gomez has attracted interest this summer, with Milan targeting him as a replacement for Malick Thiaw, who was sold to Newcastle.

Gomez, 28, has been a Liverpool player since 2015, making 243 appearances for the club. He featured as a substitute in Liverpool’s dramatic 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

After the match, Slot was asked about the club’s transfer activity. He admitted he was awaiting updates, saying:
“I will hear probably tonight if anything will happen.”

If completed, the additions of Isak and Guehi would take Liverpool’s tally to nine signings in what has been a remarkable summer of business.
