Liverpool have reportedly put a stop to Joe Gomez’s potential transfer to AC Milan, refusing to sanction the deal.
The move was initially expected to be a straightforward loan arrangement. However, Liverpool are unwilling to let the 28-year-old depart without first securing a suitable replacement. While Gomez himself was open to making the switch, Milan still needed to finalize terms with the Reds, who have made it clear that he is not available for transfer.
Gomez’s ability to play across multiple defensive positions has made him an important squad player for Liverpool. Yet his 2024/25 campaign was hindered by a hamstring injury, restricting him to just 17 appearances in all competitions.
The England defender signed a long-term contract extension in July 2022, committing his future to Anfield until 2027.
