Liverpool have reportedly blocked defender Joe Gomez’s proposed switch to AC Milan, refusing to approve the transfer.
The deal was expected to be a simple loan, but the Reds are unwilling to let the 28-year-old leave without first bringing in a replacement. Although Gomez was open to the move, Milan still needed to reach an agreement with Liverpool — who remain firm that the player is not on the market.
Known for his versatility across the backline, Gomez has been a valuable squad option for Liverpool. However, his 2024/25 season was disrupted by a hamstring injury, limiting him to just 17 appearances in all competitions.
The England international signed a new long-term contract in July 2022, keeping him at Anfield until 2027
