Liverpool’s pursuit of Marc Guehi has been thrown into uncertainty after Crystal Palace’s move for his intended replacement collapsed, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds were on the verge of completing a £35 million deal for the England international, with the defender already beginning his medical in London ahead of a switch to Anfield. Guehi had been earmarked as a major addition to Arne Slot’s backline, providing depth and leadership in central defence.
However, Palace’s attempt to sign Brighton centre-back Igor, who was identified as Guehi’s successor, has broken down. The failure of that deal means Palace are reluctant to sanction Guehi’s exit until they secure adequate cover, effectively putting the transfer on hold.
