Marc Guehi set to remain at Crystal Palace despite Liverpool deal agreed on deadline day

David Ornstein reports that Marc Guehi is now expected to stay at Crystal Palace, even though a transfer agreement with Liverpool had been reached late on deadline day.

The 25-year-old England defender had already undergone part of his medical after the two clubs agreed a £35 million fee. He had also settled on personal terms for a five-year deal running until 2030.

However, Palace manager Oliver Glasner stood firm against the sale, stressing Guehi would not be allowed to leave without a suitable replacement. While the club managed to finalize a deal for Toulouse teenager Jaydee Canvot before Monday’s 7pm deadline, their move for Igor Julio – also wanted by West Ham – collapsed.

Liverpool filed a deal sheet to buy more time, but the transfer was never completed, meaning Guehi will remain at Selhurst Park for the season.

His current contract expires at the end of the campaign, and unless he signs an extension, he could leave on a free transfer next summer
