Fabrizio Romano Issues Update on Liverpool and Marc Guehi Ahead of January

Liverpool are yet to decide whether they will revive their interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the upcoming January transfer window. According to Fabrizio Romano’s exclusive newsletter, the Reds continue to keep a close eye on his situation.

Guehi came close to sealing a move to Anfield on deadline day, with reports confirming that both clubs had reached an agreement and the England international even underwent a medical. However, the transfer collapsed after Palace failed to bring in a suitable replacement.

With his contract set to expire next summer, Palace had considered cashing in on the centre-back this past window to avoid losing him for free. His value is expected to drop further unless a new deal is agreed soon.

Romano explained:

“At the moment, nothing has been decided. I can guarantee that. Liverpool still have Guehi on their list, but it’s unclear if they will make a move in January.”

After the collapse of his transfer, Guehi was reportedly left “deeply disappointed” as he believed he had acted professionally by continuing to play for Palace until the club pulled the plug on negotiations.

Unlike other players who forced exits—such as Alexander Isak and Yoane Wissa—Guehi showed commitment by training and performing as usual. Unfortunately for him, his respectful approach did not lead to the move he had hoped for
