Gakpo, however, made it clear he never seriously considered leaving. “I already told the club I’m happy and that my family is happy in England. We feel at home, and that’s very important, besides the football itself,” he explained.
For Gakpo, outside attention “left him cold.” His focus has always been on Liverpool, even as the transfer window created uncertainty across the market. “A transfer window like this can be very hectic,” he noted. “If the future is uncertain, then it just becomes a very difficult story.”
The winger’s decision mirrors Marc Guehi’s stance that it was “Liverpool or nothing” for him this summer, a reflection of the club’s strong pull among top talents.
