Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has launched a scathing attack on his former club, criticizing their recent approach in the transfer market. Speaking with brutal honesty, Carragher expressed concern over the club’s record-breaking move for Alexander Isak, warning that the Reds could be heading down a dangerous road.
“This just shows how stupid Liverpool have become,” Carragher said bluntly. “Instead of identifying players who fit the club’s culture and have real potential, they’re chasing big-name signings. If this continues, Liverpool will soon be like Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson — wasting money on star names that ultimately fail.”
Carragher didn’t stop there. He directly questioned the decision to spend £125 million on Isak when, in his view, a far better striker was available at a fraction of the cost.
“How can you justify paying £125 million for Isak when there’s another striker out there for just £35 million who scored more goals last season? Isak is good, but he’s nowhere near the level of the player I’m talking about. That other striker is much better — 100%.”
Although Carragher avoided naming the alternative player, speculation is already rife among fans and pundits. Many believe he could be referring to a rising Premier League star or a European talent who statistically outshone Isak last season.
Liverpool supporters, meanwhile, are split. Some agree with Carragher, arguing the club is losing its identity by chasing marquee signings. Others insist that Isak’s youth, ability, and Premier League experience make him worth every penny.
