John Terry Backs Liverpool for Premier League Glory Ahead of Chelsea

In a surprising revelation that has stunned Chelsea supporters, club legend John Terry has openly admitted he wants Liverpool to win the 2025/26 Premier League title — even ahead of his beloved Stamford Bridge side.

The former Blues captain, now working with Chelsea’s academy, made the comments on talkSPORT on Friday morning. Terry pointed to Liverpool’s record-breaking £446 million summer spending spree and the team’s strong start under Arne Slot as reasons they are favourites for the crown.

Terry also gave a heartfelt reason for his support: the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, saying:

“I think they have a big motivation with the very sad loss of Diogo Jota in the back of their minds as well. I really hope Liverpool do it for that reason alone. I think they’re the strongest side, and the title is theirs to lose.”

Liverpool’s statement signings — including Florian Wirtz (£116m) and Alexander Isak (£125m) — have already transformed them into a juggernaut, with three wins from their opening three matches.

Meanwhile, Terry was more cautious about Chelsea’s chances. Under Enzo Maresca, the Blues boast the youngest squad in Premier League history, averaging just 24 years and 36 days last season. While full of talent, they are still seen as a work in progress compared to Liverpool’s powerhouse lineup.
