Liverpool escaped Turf Moor with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Burnley, thanks to Mohamed Salah’s ice-cold stoppage-time penalty.
Arne Slot’s men dominated possession but failed to break down a stubborn Burnley defence for most of the match. Tactical tinkering — including using Dominik Szoboszlai at right-back — blunted Liverpool’s creativity, while Hugo Ekitike disappointed in his audition as the central striker.
Jeremie Frimpong, however, proved decisive. His constant runs stretched the Clarets and, in the 95th minute, it was his cross that struck Hannibal Mejbri’s arm to hand Liverpool a lifeline. Salah kept his composure amid the chaos, slotting home to send the away fans into raptures.
The result highlighted both Liverpool’s flaws and their resilience: shaky without Ibrahima Konaté at the back, blunt without Alexander Isak up front, yet always capable of producing a moment of salvation through Salah.
