Liverpool trained on Tuesday morning at the AXA Training Centre ahead of their Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid, with Arne Slot enjoying the luxury of near full availability.
The standout inclusion was Alexander Isak, who took part after sitting out the weekend win over Burnley as a precaution. The £125m striker could make his long-awaited debut on Wednesday, although Slot may once again start with Hugo Ekitike and keep the Swede in reserve.
Alexis Mac Allister trained without issue despite a heavy challenge from Chelsea’s Lesley Ugochukwu on Sunday, while Federico Chiesa was also present even though he is not registered in Liverpool’s Champions League squad.
Youngsters Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni, and Jayden Danns were involved too, with the latter two eligible to be named on UEFA’s ‘List B’, offering flexibility in squad selection.
The only notable absentee was Curtis Jones, who remains out following the injury sustained in the win over Arsenal last month.
With almost a full squad at his disposal, Slot faces a welcome selection headache. Attention will now turn to team news, released 75 minutes before kick-off, where all eyes will be on whether Isak makes the starting XI or begins life at Anfield from the bench.
