Thierry Henry has cast doubt on Liverpool’s Champions League credentials, insisting their leaky defence could cost them on the biggest stage.
Speaking on CBS Sports, the Arsenal legend echoed Jamie Carragher’s earlier concerns, pointing out that the Reds have been conceding far too often this season.
“Liverpool… I don’t know. Jamie said it, I do think from already pre-season they concede too many goals, they need to erase that,” Henry said.
“They got bailed out again the other day against Burnley. You have to find a way to win games, so we’re not complaining about that. But in the Champions League, if you concede too many goals it’s a tough one to win.”
Liverpool have already conceded two goals in four of their six competitive games this season, including their dramatic 3–2 victory over Atlético Madrid in the Champions League opener.
Despite their defensive frailties, Arne Slot’s side have remained unbeaten in all competitions, barring their Community Shield penalty defeat.
