Rodrygo Speaks Out About His Situation at Real Madrid

Rodrygo Goes, the Real Madrid forward, opened up in an interview with TNT Sports Brasil about the “very difficult moments” he faced over the past few months.

After rumors of a possible transfer throughout the summer, the Brazilian ultimately decided to stay in Madrid, perhaps due to a lack of concrete offers. This season, under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, Rodrygo has primarily played on the left wing, sharing time with fellow Brazilian Vinicius Junior. His competition with Vinicius was among the topics he discussed during his interview.

Rodrygo is also adapting to a new role under Alonso. Gone are the days when he was consistently deployed on the right under Ancelotti. Now positioned on the left, he commented: “I give my all every day, waiting for my chance. Xabi Alonso has significantly evolved his style of play. This season he mostly positioned me on the left, but everyone knows I can play inside or on the right, as always.”

Reflecting on a challenging period at the end of last season, Rodrygo expressed gratitude for the support he received. “I went through a very difficult time. I want to thank my family for being there for me and also Mister Ancelotti, who understood what I was going through and helped me a lot. But I won’t go into further details. The important thing is that I’m back, feeling better, and playing again.”

He emphasized the need to keep working hard to remain competitive, both at Real Madrid and with the national team. “Everyone knows that no one’s place is guaranteed; Carlo Ancelotti has always been clear about that. I’ll keep training and giving my best. I know my potential and what I can contribute. As long as I’m physically and mentally fit, I can help the team.
