Liverpool took to social media after Mohamed Salah finished in fourth place at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.
On Monday night, the world’s biggest football stars and managers gathered inside the Théâtre du Châtelet as the annual awards were handed out. Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmatí claimed the women’s prize for the third year running, while Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé lifted the men’s award.
Dembélé, who entered as the overwhelming favourite, beat Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal and PSG teammate Vitinha to claim the honour.
Despite a remarkable season in which he delivered 57 goal contributions, Salah fell just short of the podium places. The Liverpool forward was among the pre-ceremony favourites but ultimately ranked fourth. He did not attend the gala, though Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, and manager Arne Slot were present for the Reds.
Shortly after the result was confirmed, Liverpool posted a short six-word tribute on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“A season to savour from Salah.”
The message was accompanied by a series of images celebrating the 33-year-old’s incredible campaign.

Dembélé Reacts to Historic Win
After lifting the trophy, Dembélé paid tribute to his current and former clubs:
“I thank everyone at PSG. President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Enrique are both like dads to me. I also thank all the clubs I’ve played for—Dortmund, Rennes, and Barcelona. I was with great players like Andrés Iniesta and Lionel Messi.”
