The Egyptian forward was influential in Saturday’s clash, providing the assist for Ryan Gravenberch’s opener before Hugo Ekitike doubled the lead. The result strengthened Liverpool’s grip on top spot in the Premier League, stretching their advantage to six points—later trimmed to five after Arsenal’s draw with Manchester City.
Salah, who has now registered six goal contributions in as many games this season, gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse on Instagram. He shared clips from the AXA Training Centre featuring teammates such as Ibrahima Konaté, before showing himself putting in extra hours alone in the gym.
Despite his strong start to the campaign, head coach Arne Slot confirmed that Salah is unlikely to feature in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Southampton. The Dutchman suggested heavy rotation is on the cards after a demanding run of fixtures.
“It’s the reality for teams competing on multiple fronts—you need depth,” Slot said after the derby. “Players like Virgil van Dijk, Konaté, Salah, Gravenberch, and Szoboszlai have handled the intensity well. But you won’t be seeing them in action on Tuesday night.”
With several senior stars set for a rest, Liverpool’s youngsters and fringe players are expected to step up as the Reds continue their push across all competitions.
