Football pundit Jason Cundy has stirred controversy with his bold comments about Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, claiming the Dutch defender’s best days are behind him.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy said:
“He’s not the best defender ever. He has been world class, but he’s not anymore. He had a couple of good seasons — I can’t deny that.”
His remarks have triggered a heated debate among fans. Many Liverpool supporters slammed the comments as disrespectful, pointing out van Dijk’s continued dominance and leadership at the heart of the Reds’ defense. Others, however, believe Cundy has a point, arguing the defender hasn’t quite reached the same peak levels since Liverpool’s title-winning campaign.
