Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has come under fire after receiving a brutal 1/5 rating from Swedish outlet Svenska Fans following Sweden’s 2–0 defeat to Switzerland in the World Cup qualifiers.
The 26-year-old, who recently joined Liverpool from Newcastle, endured a frustrating night where little went his way. Despite one effort hitting the post, Isak failed to influence the game and looked off the pace for most of the match.
Svenska Fans described his display harshly, writing: “Today’s team captain… ran on many balls, hit the post, but overall rarely succeeded with his actions.”
The performance adds to growing concern over Isak’s form since arriving at Anfield. Having missed much of pre-season, he has struggled to adapt to Arne Slot’s demanding system and is yet to find consistency.
Liverpool fans now question whether he can replicate his Newcastle form, where he scored 21 goals last season. With strong competition from Núñez, Gakpo, Jota, and Díaz, Isak needs to regain sharpness quickly to secure his place.
Interestingly, Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres also received a 1/5 rating, as Sweden’s attack faltered again.
For Isak, the criticism comes at a crucial point in his career. His talent is clear, but he must rediscover confidence and rhythm soon — both for club and country
