Liverpool have suffered another setback at the academy level after scans confirmed that 19-year-old striker Lewis Dannshas sustained a serious injury. The promising forward is expected to spend several months on the sidelines as he begins his road to recovery.
“It could be a couple of months,” revealed Liverpool U21 coach Rob Page in an interview with the ECHO. “It’s not going to be a quick fix.”
Despite the disappointment, Page praised Danns for his optimism and determination, noting that the young striker has remained upbeat throughout his rehabilitation.
“It’s a setback for him, but Dannsy is one of the most positive lads you’ll ever meet,” Page said. “If anyone can handle this challenge, it’s him. He has the full backing of the medical staff and everyone at the club. He’ll get through it.”
This marks another unfortunate turn for Danns, who was close to securing a loan move to Sunderland last season before a back injury derailed the deal.
While the setback is frustrating, Liverpool’s academy staff remain confident that Danns’ professionalism, mentality, and work ethic will help him return stronger than ever once he’s fully fit.
