Jody Morris Reveals the Two Key Positions Chelsea Must Strengthen

Chelsea legend Jody Morris has shared his thoughts on the areas the Blues still need to improve, highlighting two specific positions that could make a major difference to the team’s success.

In a recent interview, Morris suggested that Chelsea’s squad remains unbalanced in certain areas, despite heavy investment over the past few transfer windows.

“If you spoke to most people regarding Chelsea, those were the positions that they obviously think maybe looked like needed strengthening more than elsewhere,” he said.

Morris went on to mention Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc Guehi as two players who would significantly boost the squad’s quality and stability.

“If you’re talking about two players in Donnarumma and Marc Guehi, you absolutely would go — I think they enhance most teams, not just Chelsea,” he added.

The former assistant manager also hinted that there may have been internal disagreements over transfer priorities, saying:

“Whether Enzo Maresca felt that they needed changing or whether upstairs didn’t want to come through and support that, who knows?”

Although there’s no confirmation that Chelsea officially pursued either Donnarumma or Guehi, Morris believes securing players of their calibre could transform the Blues into genuine title contenders once again.
