Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided a cautious update on Alexander Isak’s condition following the groin issue that forced him off during the Reds’ emphatic 5–1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the weekend fixture, Slot confirmed that while the injury is not as serious as first feared, Isak remains a major doubt for the upcoming match.
“Alex is not too bad,” Slot said. “There’s a question mark for the weekend, and we’ll see where he is.”
The 26-year-old striker has been in fine form since joining Liverpool in the summer, linking up well with fellow forward Hugo Ekitike and contributing significantly to the team’s attacking rhythm. His potential absence would be a blow, especially with Jeremie Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alisson Becker already sidelined.
Liverpool’s medical team will continue to monitor Isak’s progress in training, with a final decision on his availability expected shortly before kick-off.
For now, Isak remains a massive doubt, and Slot may once again need to turn to Ekitike or Cody Gakpo to lead the line as the Reds aim to continue their strong run of form.
