Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Jeremie Frimpong will face another spell on the sidelines after suffering his second hamstring injury of the season.
Speaking after Liverpool’s 5–1 Champions League victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, Slot expressed frustration at the growing injury list affecting his squad.
“We know we have the quality and the team that can compete,” Slot said. “But it’s not really helpful that with Alisson being out, with Giovanni Leoni being out, I expect Jeremie to also definitely be out now for a few weeks.”
The Liverpool boss went on to highlight how the team’s depth is being tested despite public perception of a large squad.
“Although people like to talk about us as if we have 25 to 30 first-team players, when we play 11 versus 11 in training we almost always need one or two players from the under-21s,” Slot explained.
Frimpong’s setback is particularly disappointing given his recent return from a previous hamstring problem.
“Jeremie only came back from a hamstring injury a few weeks ago. He played for the national team one game, came back to us, and now unfortunately, he had to go off again,” Slot added.
The Dutch full-back, who joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer, has endured a challenging start to life at Anfield. Despite making nine appearances across all competitions, Frimpong has started only one Premier League match — on the opening weekend of the season.
With crucial fixtures approaching, including domestic and European ties, Frimpong’s absence adds to Liverpool’s growing concerns as Slot looks to keep his side competitive amid mounting injury troubles.
