Klopp Reveals the Three World-Class Players Liverpool Could Only Dream of Signing

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has revealed the three world-class players he always wished he could have brought to Anfield — but couldn’t, due to financial limitations.

Speaking at a tribute event in June 2024, Klopp candidly admitted that Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, and Erling Haaland were his dream signings — players who, in his view, could have redefined Liverpool’s golden era under his leadership.

Despite leading one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history, Klopp acknowledged that Liverpool’s self-sustaining model often restricted their ability to compete in the transfer market with wealthier rivals like Manchester City and Chelsea.

“Can you imagine Liverpool as a club with unlimited money?” Klopp asked the audience. “Imagine Kylian Mbappé here. Imagine Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland.”

He quickly followed with a statement that summed up his philosophy: “It is not us. It just does not fit. We won what we won — and we did it the Liverpool way.”

Klopp’s words reflect his deep respect for the club’s identity — prioritizing team spirit, development, and sustainability over extravagant spending. Still, the idea of Mbappé, Bellingham, and Haaland in Liverpool red remains one of football’s great “what if” scenarios.

Even as Arne Slot’s Liverpool continue to build on that foundation — including winning the Premier League in his debut season — Klopp’s influence and the club’s core values remain firmly embedded in Anfield’s legacy
