Man Utd Turned Down Chance to Swap Garnacho for Chelsea Midfielder—Now He’s Injured

Manchester United reportedly passed up an opportunity to include Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia in the summer deal that brought Alejandro Garnacho to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were reportedly willing to include the 21-year-old Belgian in an effort to lower the transfer fee, but United declined, citing concerns over Lavia’s injury record.

Despite being regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe, Lavia has struggled with fitness since moving from Southampton to Chelsea, missing significant chunks of two seasons.

United, who were looking to strengthen their midfield, decided not to take the risk and opted for a straight cash deal to secure Garnacho instead.

The decision now appears wise, as Lavia recently suffered another injury, leaving the field early in Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Qarabag
