A surprising transfer revelation has emerged suggesting that Bruno Fernandes may have unintentionally prevented Manchester United F.C. from signing James Maddison — a player who could now become available for a bargain fee this summer.
Since arriving from Sporting CP in 2020 for around £47 million, Fernandes has been the heartbeat of Manchester United’s midfield. Despite that, United’s hierarchy reportedly felt that Maddison’s playing style was too similar to Bruno Fernandes, which led the club to abandon the pursuit. Instead, they opted to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea F.C. for £60 million.
Maddison eventually joined Tottenham Hotspur F.C. from Leicester City F.C. for around £40 million and has made a significant impact when fit. However, his current situation at Spurs could reopen the transfer conversation.
