Barcelona Transfer Update: EPL Star on Radar, Szczesny’s Future Unclear, Flick Renews Contract
Barcelona are close to securing the La Liga title, needing just a win against Espanyol on May 15 to clinch the trophy.
As they look ahead to the summer, the club is reportedly targeting Tottenham Hotspur’s right-back Pedro Porro. With Jules Kounde primarily a center-back and lacking sufficient backup, the Catalans are aiming to strengthen their defensive options. Porro has impressed this season with four goals and nine assists in 49 games. Spurs aren’t keen on selling but may consider offers in the €60–65 million range. Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also interested in the 25-year-old Spaniard.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has yet to decide on his future. After coming out of retirement last October to support Barcelona during Ter Stegen’s injury, Szczesny has become Hansi Flick’s first-choice keeper. He confirmed that the club has offered him a two-year extension, but he’s requested time to consider family-related logistics before making a final decision. So far, Szczesny has kept 13 clean sheets in 29 matches this season.
On the coaching front, Hansi Flick has agreed to extend his stay with Barcelona until 2027. Since replacing Xavi last summer, Flick has led the team to victories in the Copa del Rey and Supercopa de España and is now on the verge of securing the league title. The extension follows productive discussions after their 4-3 win over Real Madrid.
