Joan Laporta has made a surprising decision that left Lamine Yamal very disappointed, according to Spanish media.

As Barcelona wraps up a successful domestic season—having won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup—the club is also addressing key matters ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, despite the overall positive atmosphere, Laporta’s recent announcement has caused tension. During a media appearance, he stated that Barcelona has decided not to pursue Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, who had previously been considered a target. This news came as a blow to Yamal, who shares a strong personal and professional bond with Williams, forged through their time with the Spanish national team.

Yamal has repeatedly expressed his desire to reunite with Williams at Barcelona and is reportedly concerned about Real Madrid’s growing interest in the winger. With Madrid potentially ready to activate Williams’ release clause, the decision not to pursue him has caused frustration within Barcelona—and especially for Yamal.
