Speaking to Football Insider, former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown stated that Liverpool has long viewed Díaz as a player who could be sold—but only after securing a suitable replacement.
“Liverpool are ready to let Díaz go, but only once they bring in someone new,” Brown noted. “They’ve been planning behind the scenes for a while and have now identified Florian Wirtz as their preferred successor.”
Brown suggested that the Wirtz deal would pave the way for other player departures as Liverpool reshuffles the squad.
Barcelona Monitoring Díaz Ahead of Summer Window
According to Brown, Barcelona is among several top clubs watching Díaz’s situation. The Spanish giants are reportedly looking to strengthen their options on the wing, with Marcus Rashford also among their targets.
Díaz played 50 matches for Liverpool this season, scoring 17 goals and registering 8 assists. As the transfer window nears, he could become a key figure in helping Liverpool generate funds for further deals.
