Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone Frustrated as Star Striker Julian Alvarez Requests Move to Arsenal

Julian Alvarez has had a standout debut season at Atletico Madrid, netting 29 goals across all competitions after his £80 million move from Manchester City last summer. His performances have attracted the attention of Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool.

Despite Alvarez’s success in Spain and his apparent comfort under Diego Simeone’s system, rumors are intensifying about a potential return to England. Arsenal, in particular, are reportedly the most determined suitor as they seek to strengthen their attack.

According to reports from Marca, Alvarez recently visited Simeone’s office and expressed a desire to join Arsenal—a move that left the Atletico boss deeply disappointed. Meanwhile, Barcelona is also monitoring the situation and may look to keep Alvarez in La Liga as a future replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has firmly dismissed the idea of selling Alvarez, stating:

“Julian Alvarez is our player. He’s happy here, and he will stay. He was raised at Atletico Madrid and he will die at Atletico Madrid.”

Despite having five years left on his contract, interest from top clubs and uncertainty about Arsenal’s striker options (linked to Viktor Gyokeres) could shape how this transfer saga unfolds.
